Hydrofarms are ok to use with UTH's and RHP's, they will do the job but they aren't very accurate and don't have any failsafes like better thermostats do.
A hydrofarm will work, but when possible getting a better thermostat like a Herpstat would be a good idea.

Re: Hydrofarm
Well I just got laid off, so I won't be able to get a Herpstat for a couple months or so.. Just wondering if the hydrofarm will hold a semi constant temp and hold off until I can acquire a better one

I've got a hydrofarm on my UTH and it keeps my temperatures 88-92. It's a 4F difference, but not one that I would think would hurt the snake considering that much considering that's the range of temperatures the hot spot is supposed to be anyway.

I was using a Hydrofarm for a little while and it worked great. Now that I got my VE200 I use my hydrofarm and a safety backup with the VE200. I have the VE200 set at 98 to get the hotpsot temps where they need to be and I noticed that the hydrofarm temp will read anywhere from 95-100.

I would not recommend using a RHP with any on off type T-stat. My two RHP both will hit 160º. With a on off tstat depending on the set up may keep the panel on for longer than a few min and this temp I would consider to be too high inside a enclosure at any location. My some of my flexwatt maxes out lower than the RHP as far as that goes.

No I am not I am telling you a RHP will MY RHP (reptile basics) hits 160º in ten min of 100% power. If your set up allows the RHP 100% power for ten min I would suggest it would have similar temps on the surface. I personally don't like to have anything that produces over 110 inside the enclosure. A proportional t-stat holds temps to the set point by fluttering the power. On offs are on or off and if it is on for long the face temp will become quite hot.
I would also suggest that NO set up should be without a proper fail safe.
