    hog island caging ideas

so in june, i am going to the emerald city expo, and i plan to pick up a hog island boa. i'm kinda trying to build my own caging for it, and i'm wondering if anybody here has ideas. i'm kinda thinking of doing it in pvc, or some kind of plastic, but i kinda want more input and ideas, how easy is it to clean pvc and what not, is there a better alternative? any and all replies would be greatly appreciated, thanks

I reccommend just buying a pvc encloure. With the amount of effort, time and money you put into making one you could just buy a nice one for less than $200...

Buy a nice cage and put your time and money into making the inside look nicer

i'd rather not buy cages throughout the snake's life, so my thinking was like 4x2x2 which is what i've read in various places and such, and all the cages that size i've seen were like 300+ where the plastic came in at a little over 100, i'm not against buying one, but i'm just not sure

Where are you finding plastic that cheap? How thick is it?

    I have a Animal Plastics T12, and it is great (4 x 2 x 2)

(The bottom cage of the 2 stacked)

Here is a thread I wrote on PVC cages if nothing else it could give you some ideas for building your own

These guys are totally right. Every snake person does DIY work, but very often you will finish a project and wish you had just bought one from a professional. custom enclosures are very often like that.

If you really want to do it though, more power to you.

The T-10's are a great size for boas.
