Is red dye at all safe?

i got a pregnant mouse and i would like to give her some dog food to help with protein. Is it at all okay to give her just a few peices of dog food (that contains red dye) every now and then? thanks!

40 is one that has a lot of controversy about it. I wouldn't feed it.
Get a small bag (You can get a 5lb bag for like $8) of some type of high quality holistic dog kibble, and feed your mice a little here and there.
