    One thing I noticed with colubrids is that they calm down when they are very well fed. Try a larger feeder or several smaller feeders or move up feedings to every five days.

    BTW, they will never be as easy to handle as a BP.

    Not in my experience. I see no discernable difference(attitude wise) between a CB and WC hatchling corn snake. If we're talking about older snakes of course the CB would be calmer as it has had more time to adjust. I'd expect 1-2 tags when first picking either up before they calmed down for the handling session. Of course there are exceptions, I've picked up plenty of wild corns without them striking at all. Likewise, I've picked up some that decided just a few bites weren't quite enough..
