Axanthic discussion.
What would come out if you crossed a red axanthic and a vpi axanthic? You would get het red axanthic get axanthics right? Then what do you think we would get if we crossed 2 of those together. Red axanthic axanthics. What would those look like? I feel like both axanthic morphs working together may increase the chances of the black and white snake through all of its life. No browning. That's my opinion anyway. I was jus bored at work an thought i would throw this out there. Thanks.

Re: Axanthic discussion.
I think a Red axanthic axanthic might look like a regular axanthic. Since Red axanthics actually do have some color in them that gives them their reddish brown color, putting regular axanthic on top of that seems like it would cancel it out, maybe it would have the red axanthic pattern but the regular axanthic colors.

Fair enough but for example a het red axanthic pastel. The red axanthic blushes and dims the pastels yellows a lot. Believe me I have one. So my logic is the red axanthic would lighten the already light axanthic. Who knows until it's don't right. Het red axanthic does crazy things to morphs. Look up a red axanthic genetic stripe. It will blow you away if you haven't seen it.

Well, technically a red ax and an VPI ax would produce het red ax (which are visual co doms. The red ax is the super form) that are het VPI ax (recessive). Then if you bred those together and actually got a red ax that was also VPI ax, the VPI ax would cancel out the red. It would brown out a bit with age like most axanthics do. The red ax would add blushing and a blackback and probably improve the brightness of it but the combo would not be eye popping enough for any breeder to actually make one in my opinion.

Dang it! Had my hopes up that a true silver/black snake could be bred, lol! LOVE the look of the VPI Axanthics as babies, before they brown out but once they age a little and the silver/black fades to brown, well...bit of a letdown, to say the least, lol! Still sharp looking snakes, just not as hot as a true silver/black would be in my opinion.

You can still keep your hopes up lol. We won't know for sure until it is made. Who knows silver and black is still a possibility. If I had a axanthic I would take this project on but I don't. Lol. I think het red/red axanthics haven't been explored to the fullest.

Well considering that the het reds and the red axanthic are lighter and brighter and have a lot of back blushing, I'm sure the outcome would be nice. I would be concerned about just how much it would eventually brown out though. The question is, would it, or wouldn't it..
To make what you're thinking of and have it retain the color you want, I'd go a step further and add the hypo gene. Imagine a true ghost red axanthic. It would take forever to make but I bet it would look nice. It would be more silver and grey but wow!

(brain exploding noises) nuff said. Lol. Or maybe a red axanthic orange dream. I know the orange dream increases the black so maybe the red axanthic would have a better time clearing more of an orange then the goldeny yellows of a normal.

If black is what you want.. Very bright, vivid black, here's a thought... We all know about the problems with females reproducing but the desert would be a great morph for your idea. It doesn't even have any red or brown in it's color so it probably wouldn't brown out as a desert axanthic.

Aaaaahhh! To have infinite money and time to breed all of these possibilities out, especially with the recessive morphs! How amazing of an animal would that be, jet black and silver or even grey and silver? Understated colors but still incredible to look at. Maybe in another 10-15 years it'll be a reality, lol! Hahahahaha!
