XPVC rack built with MANY THANKS to Simple Man!!!

Well - if imitation is the sincerest form of flattery - consider yourself flattered bro! Thank you!

Finally put the rack together and took some pics. Mine went together slightly differently. I found 16"x10 boards that fit as side pieces. I ripped the 5x8s into 24"x17" shelves. I then routed 5" slots on the interior shelves in order to run the 4" flexwatt. The solid sides will help hold the heat in and reduce cost to run it a bit. The back will have thin pressboard. All is being controlled by a Herpstat 1.

    I have 6 31 qt units and 8 15 qt..both are Sterlite Clearview latching.

    Router cuts for flexwatt

    Coming together

    Almost done!

Very easy to work with. You can't imagine the mess that router makes and you gotta sweep it up...no biodegradable...can't just blow it into the yard like i would for wood

Incidentally - I used self tapping screws and did not have to drill pilot holes...

How did the self tapping screws work? I predrilled because I was paranoid about ruining the xpvc but self tapping would have saved a bunch of time. I could have tossed it together in under an hour if I had used self tapping screws.

The self tapping screws worked great - i definately suggest going that route.
I built a 10 rack and a 7 rack with the stuff below but here are the costs as best i can split out for that unit. I had extra left from what is listed below for a 2nd rack...

    Total costs:
    2 5'x8' boards, cut $190
    16"x10' boards $60
    Screws $2
    8-15 qt/6-31qt $94
    Flexwatt 23ft $54
    Total $400
