High whites are a good place to start if you can't find a masked rat.

Unless you have a lot of experience with breeding rats, I would suggest finding a solid colour to breed. Breeding marked rats takes TONS of space, and TONS of generations to get anywhere near perfect, especially on something so specific like a masked, or capped rat.

Try just picking a colour you like, and then once you get more experienced with genetics, try moving on to marked rats.

Anyone who's bred rats for markings will tell you, it's the hardest thing to do as far as breeding goes if you want your rats to be anywhere near standards.

    Its just breeding.

Get one masked rat and then line breed it until you have some masked males.

The unleash those masked males in your colony and prepare for the results LOL.

    This is not an answer.
I am from Germany and here itīs nearly Impossible to get some masked rats.
Iīve got about 30 rats at home so i īve got a basement to breed some rats =)

My question is just Which colours i have to breed together.
i did capped and capped together and there were just capped babys a few times -.-

It's not a matter of which colours you breed together.

You have to selectively breed for the specific markings you want, and how you want them placed. This is why I said you should try for something else. Creating masked rats from scratch is incredibly difficult if you have 0 masked rats to work with.

Creating masked rats from scratch is a virtual impossibility.

You just have to wait for a mutation to occur and then save that animal for breeding. I wouldn't even attempt it.

You can probably make them from another rat. Look out for rats with small spot on the face, or small spots on the ears, but a white body other than that, and you can work from there.

You can probably breed from your capped rats. Just breed, and then select the babies that have the smallest, most forward set caps, and then breed those. Eventually, you can migrate the markings forward, and make something close to a masked rat from those.
