You know they lay a LOT of eggs, right? I wouldn't do it, you'll have dominance issues and the male will be ready to breed far before the female which will do her no good.

    Re: 9in & 4in beardie's together

There will be dominance issues housing any two beardies together. You'd also need a huge viv when they get bigger. Also, they might fight over food, the good basking spots etc if they're both dominant personalities. Also, the male is going to reach maturity a lot sooner as was mentioned by jfreels. If the female isn't big enough by that time or isn't sexually mature, you run the risk of her getting egg bound which is deadly. You also have the issue of if one gets sick, the other's probably going to get sick. Or if one gets sick you don't know which one it is so you'll be spending more taking them both to the vet to figure out which one it is. If one stops eating you'll have a hard time figuring that out also. It's always a good idea to keep reptiles housed separately in my opinion. Best of luck with the beardies!

beardies really really like to have their own enclosures....I agree with everyone else there will be dominance issues and likely that the female will suffer.

I wouldn't try it, there may only be a 5 inch difference, but you are talking about a four inch dragon!! And the female is the smaller of the two, that lil girl will be freakin out lol, especially once the male figures out he is male...

You can definitely not house a female dragon that small with a male dragon twice her size. You not only have to worry about the dominance issue, but it is very possible she will start ovulating way to early for her age whether or not the male breeds her successfully or not and could very easily cause her to become egg bound.

I would not even house an adult female and male together except for mating and then removing the male to his own enclosure. He will harass the female more times then not.
