    VPI Axanthic Pinstripe

I first thought about this cross in 2005 when I got my first Pinstripe pair. The male didn't breed that year, and I talked to Brian at BHB about the project, and the possibility of getting an adult Axanthic female from him the following year. In 2006, I didn't have an adult Axanthic female. However, in 2007, my Axanthic boy bred my Pin girl, and I got a Pin Het Axanthic male. Of course Brian beet me to the project goal, but I still wanted one of my own. My Pin Het boy finally bred in 2008, but I missed the cross in 2009 out of three clutches.

Finally in 2010 (this weekend to be exact), after 32 eggs and 15 Pinstripes out of those eggs, I finally hit one male VPI Axanthic Pinstripe. I couldn't have been more excited. I have been building that excitement for 5 years now. I have big plans for this guy (first up is a Spider Het Axanthic girl), and still have 10 eggs from Pin Het to Axanthic (so maybe I can get a couple more). Here is the pic. Thanks for looking.
