    WHat do mites look like?

I'm worried there is a type of parasite in my bp's tank,
i dont know how it would have occured.
i see little white dots on the side of the tank that go up and down so it cant be lint or somthing. my bp has never had white specs on him but i see som on down his back.

Do you use aspen for the bedding?

I'm not sure then. But I think you might have pine mites, or wood mites. If so they don't hurt the snake just annoy you.

To answer you question snake mites are black. I took for them in the water dishes, they look like pepper, and if you put your finger on top of one it will pop and look like red/brown blood was inside it.

Im not for sure but the eggs and juveniles are white. Yes and the adults are like little walking black specs of pepper. Even if they aren't the bad mites I would still get rid of them. If they are reptile mites than use Black Night.

Those are wood mites. I had them when I used Repti bark. I cleaned out the aquarium using water and bleach, then switched to Coconut Husk. I haven't had them since.
