How big do male Ball Pythons get?
I was under the impression that a male BP would get around 3 1/2 or 4 feet (with the few exceptions that are smaller or larger), but another BP owner insists that it will be 5 feet. Anyone who's had BP's for awhile-- How big did your males get?

    I have a male that's 2062 grams, and about 4- 4 1/2 in length.

The biggest bp I've ever owned was a male. I picked him up off of cl hoping he was a female. He was every bit of 5ft and 4500g. I gave him to a friend.

They can be all over the place. I have a 6 year old male pastel that I had since he was a few weeks old. He was never power fed. Now he is a perfectly healthy and happy 1500 grams and about 3 feet long.

Thanks everyone! I don't really care how big my BP gets, I was just wondering.

Oh, it really depends on the male. My het lavender is a 2007, and he's only 3 1/2 feet. My 2009 piebald male is holding steady at 700 grams, is super slender, and I'd be surprised if he's even 3 feet. And both of them are proud fathers.

Meanwhile my 2008 black pastel male is 1600 grams and easily 4 feet long. He's simply never skipped a meal: he got big by eating one mouse a week all winter long, while all the other boys refused. I don't go out of my way to feed him, but he's happy to clean up any leftover rats, and he makes sure I know it. Too bad he's not a female.

So it just depends on the particular male.

    We have:
1500 gram late 2010 black pastel het ghost
    2400 gram 2007 clown male
    1000 gram late 2011 specter
    1000 gram mid 2011 BEL

They really do get big...2007 clown male ~ he's as big as she is :D

The normal male I got of Craigslist a few weeks ago is close to 4 1/2 feet and 1640g. Hatched Dec 2010. He's a real sweetie, very calm & friendly.

Yeah, that's kind of like insisting that most boys will grow up to be 6 feet tall. Some will, anyway. :)

It's a lot easier to get quick accurate weights on living snakes than it is to measure their lengths. I've got a 1983 male ball python which ends each feeding season around 4000 grams and measured approx. 63 inches back in 2003 when he weighed less than 3500 grams. Who knows how big the males might get since most breeders put their energy into growing up females.
