When should my Ball Python Poop?
    Hey all

I've had my male BP, Samson, for about 3 weeks now and he's been fed twice.

Problem I've got is that I've not seen him poop, nor have I had to clean up any poop since I got him although I recall cleaning something that I thought was poop a few days after I got him, but nothing since.

I put him in the bath a week ago with an inch or two of mild warm water to give him some exercise and he did take a pee and push out a couple of white blobs which I now know were urates (i think this is what it's called). But no poop...

I've read somewhere that they'd poop maybe 3-4 days from eating (could be wrong).

Can anyone out there give me any info on this:confused:
How often and how quick do BP's take a dump?

Don't worry, my Balls poop probably every 3-4 weeks. I would honestly only start worrying if you get to around week 8 or so. Other then that, they pretty much go when they want to go.

My BPs poop about once a month, sometimes more, sometimes less. I like it when they do it more, because it's not as big. I mean, for real. .HUGE poops.

Hey:) thanks for the quick replies.

Jenn - Samson has a half coconut hide which he loves, also it is easy to get to him if I want to take him out, simply lift the coconut and there he is:D I take him out every couple of days this way and always make a point of checking if he's done his business.

Seeing as experience tells you that they'd drop one every month or so says I'm being a little premature in my concerns...

I'll be happy once he does, I don't fancy having a constipated ball:P

He'll probably drop a real fatty for me now, he's just about to shed so with a little luck he'll be excited and squeeze one out into his shed:D

BTW Skoalbasher, why did you name your Spider after me.. he he...

No doubt, it's almost unbelievable. I thought a large dog had snuck into my BP's enclosure and played a trick on me.

If you're feeding him small meals, and he's growing, you may not see much in the way of bowel movements cause he'll be using all of the meal. If he's feeding on rodents that have more fur than rat pups, you'll see some containing fur from the meals.

I wouldn't worry too much about him. When he's ready, he'll go :-)
